Religious painting asks for restraint. The scenes in this collection are quiet ones: a shepherd with his flock, a man fed by an angel in the wilderness, children being welcomed, a mandala worked out stroke by stroke. Nothing is staged for drama it does not need.

What is in this collection

Around a hundred and thirty paintings across three groups. Gospel scenes is the largest: the Good Shepherd, the healing at the pool of Bethesda, Elijah in the wilderness, Christ with children. Sacred architecture covers Notre-Dame at dawn, Mont Saint-Michel at twilight, cloisters and cathedral interiors in real light. Contemplative traditions holds Tibetan thangka-inspired mandalas and meditation subjects.

The light does the work throughout: dawn, candlelight, a shaft through a high window. These are made to be lived with rather than looked at once.

How each painting is made

Nothing here is printed. Each canvas is painted in oils after you order it, by an artist working from the reference on the page, which is why the lead time runs in weeks and no two are identical.

You set the dimensions rather than choosing from a list. Three finishes are available: Simple for a clean, even surface, Texture for visible brushwork, and Museum for the heaviest impasto.

Choosing one for a room

These are among the few paintings that work well in a small format. A modest canvas beside a reading chair, in a bedroom or in a hallway carries a scene like the Good Shepherd better than a large one would. Cathedral interiors are the exception: they want height, and an upright canvas gives the eye the lift the building was designed for.

They suit a chapel, a retreat house or a quiet corner at home. Tell us the setting and we will suggest a proportion.

A scene, a saint or a place

If the passage, figure or church you want is not in the collection, tell us. An artist will review it before anything is agreed. Shipping is free worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

Are these icons, or oil paintings?
They are oil paintings on canvas. Some subjects draw on iconographic tradition, but the medium is oil and every canvas is painted by hand after you order.
Can you paint a specific biblical scene that is not listed?
Yes. Tell us the passage and how you picture it, and an artist will review the composition before anything is agreed or charged.
Do you paint for churches and chapels?
Yes. Tell us the wall, the light in the building and the viewing distance, and we will suggest a size and finish that suits it.
What is the difference between Simple, Texture and Museum?
They describe how much paint sits on the canvas. Simple is a clean, even surface. Texture shows visible brushwork. Museum uses the heaviest impasto and comes closest to a gallery original.
How long does it take and what does delivery cost?
A few weeks, depending on size and how many figures the scene holds. Shipping is free worldwide and is already included in the price shown.
