Hand-painted in oil on canvas
A painter mixes the colours and works the picture up over days. Stand close and the brushwork is there.
Any size you ask for
From 20 cm on the short side to 150 x 235 cm. You set the size; we price it and tell you before anything is charged.
Free worldwide shipping
Rolled in a tube, stretched ready to hang, or framed in a moulding you choose. No shipping cost, anywhere.
Close enough to see the brush
This is the difference a photograph cannot show you and a print cannot fake: paint with body, laid in the direction the subject moves.
How your commission is painted
Send your photograph
Attach the picture you want painted and tell us roughly the size you have in mind. One clear photograph is enough to start.
Get a quote
An advisor replies with a firm price and a timeline for that size and subject. Nothing is charged at this stage.
An artist paints it
Hand-painted in oil on canvas over one to four weeks, depending on size and complexity. You see photographs before it ships.
It ships free
Rolled in a tube, stretched on a frame or framed, to anywhere in the world, at no shipping cost.
Paintings we have made
A commission starts with a photograph you already have. You send it to us, we tell you what it would cost as an oil painting and how long it would take, and only if both suit you does an artist begin. Nothing is charged before you agree to the quote.
Every commission is painted by hand in oil on canvas. There is no printing step and no digital filter: a person mixes the colours, lays the ground, and works the picture up over days. That is why a commission takes weeks rather than hours, and it is also why it does not look like a poster of your photograph.
What we can paint from a photograph
Most requests fall into a handful of subjects, and each has its own page with examples and its own advice on which photographs work: portraits of one person, family portraits, couple portraits, pet portraits, houses, cars and landscapes. If your subject is none of those, send it anyway. We have painted shopfronts, boats, wedding venues, motorcycles and a favourite tree.
Sizes, and what they cost
You choose the size. Commissions are painted from around 20 cm on the short side up to 150 x 235 cm, and the size is the largest single factor in the price: a canvas twice as wide is four times the surface an artist has to cover. Complexity is the second factor. One face on a plain ground is quicker work than six figures in a garden.
Because those two factors are yours to set, there is no fixed price list on this page. Send the photograph and the size you have in mind and you get a real figure, not a range.
How it arrives
Every commission ships free, worldwide. You choose how it travels: rolled in a tube, which is the safest way to send a large canvas across an ocean and lets you stretch and frame it locally; stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang out of the box; or framed, with a moulding chosen from our range.
How long it takes
Production of a custom oil painting on canvas usually runs from one to four weeks, depending on size, complexity, the texture you choose and how many paintings are in your order. Your advisor confirms the timeline in writing with your quote, before you commit to anything.
If it is not right
You see the finished painting in photographs before it leaves the studio, and we work with you on it at that stage. Once it has arrived, you have 30 days to contact us about any defect.
Send us your photograph
Tell us the size you have in mind and attach the picture you want painted. An advisor replies with a price and a timeline, and nothing is charged until you agree to both.
Questions before you commission
How much does a custom oil painting cost?
The price depends mostly on the size of the canvas and on how complex the subject is: one face on a plain ground is quicker work than a group of figures in a landscape. Send us the photograph and the size you want and we reply with a firm figure rather than a range.
How long does a commission take?
Production of an oil painting on canvas usually takes from one to four weeks, depending on size, complexity, the texture chosen and the number of paintings in the order. Your advisor confirms the exact timeline with your quote.
What kind of photograph do you need?
The sharpest one you have, in good light, showing the subject clearly. Resolution matters less than focus and light: a well-lit phone photograph usually works better than a dark picture from a good camera. If your photograph is not usable we will tell you before you commit to anything.
Can you paint from several photographs?
Yes. People often send one photograph for the face and another for the setting, or ask us to bring together family members photographed at different times. Send them all and explain what you want combined.
Is it really hand-painted?
Yes, in oil on canvas, by a painter. Nothing is printed and nothing is filtered digitally. That is why a commission is measured in weeks and why the brushwork is visible when you stand close to it.
Do you ship worldwide, and what does it cost?
We ship worldwide and shipping is free, whether the painting travels rolled in a tube, stretched on a wooden frame, or framed.
What if I am not happy with it?
You see the finished painting in photographs before it leaves the studio, which is the point at which changes are easiest to make. After delivery you have 30 days to contact us about any defect.
