Her black hair is pinned up with a red knotted cloth, a pin with a red bead, a comb and a round cluster of small white flowers. Her pale neck stands out against the plain black background, and the finish is smooth, with fine detail in the hair.

The painting is made to order by a workshop painter who hand-paints it in oil on canvas and needs 2 to 4 weeks. The range is ten sizes, 30 x 45 cm to 150 x 223 cm.
