This Ethiopian priest is painted in the style of Van Gogh, with short, thick strokes that curl into swirls of blue and turquoise behind his head. He wears a large cream turban and a green and ochre jacket, has a dark beard and keeps his hands clasped close to his chin. The warm skin tones stand out against the cool background, and the paint looks heavy and layered.
