Landscape Oil Paintings
Some places stay with you long after you have left them. A cliff road above the Aegean, the light on a Haussmann facade at the end of an afternoon, a canyon so large the eye keeps looking for something to measure it against. This collection is built from those places, painted by hand in oils rather than photographed.
What is in this collection
Roughly two hundred and fifty paintings across four kinds of view. Coast and sea gathers the Santorini shoreline, white-sand Caribbean bays and Atlantic cliffs. Mountain and wilderness runs from the Grand Canyon in full daylight to northern lights over a snowbound pine forest. Cities take in Paris streets, Edinburgh Castle at sunset and skylines caught between dusk and lamplight. And a monuments group holds the landmarks people travel for, Mount Rushmore among them.
The collection leans toward the hour rather than the place: many of these are painted at sunrise, at dusk, or under weather. It is the light that makes a landscape worth hanging, not the postcard.
How each painting is made
Nothing here is printed. Each canvas is painted in oils after you order it, by an artist working from the reference you see on the page, which is why the lead time runs in weeks and why no two are identical.
You set the dimensions rather than choosing from a fixed list, so the painting can be made for the wall it is going on. Three finishes are available: Simple for a clean, even surface, Texture for visible brushwork, and Museum for the heaviest impasto.
Choosing one for a room
Landscapes want width. A wide canvas above a sofa or a sideboard gives the eye somewhere to travel, and a horizon line sitting at roughly seated eye level reads more naturally than one hung high. Coastal and mountain scenes carry cool light and suit a room that already has plenty of it; city scenes at dusk bring warmth into a room that has little.
If you are unsure, tell us where it will hang and how much wall you have, and we will suggest a proportion.
A place of your own
If the view you want is not here, a coastline you go back to or a street you lived on, send us a photograph and an artist will look at it before anything is agreed. Shipping is free worldwide.
