This is a hand-painted copy of The Appearance of Christ Before the People, also called The Appearance of the Messiah, by the Russian painter Alexander Ivanov, painted between 1837 and 1857. In this biblical scene at the Jordan river, John the Baptist, in animal skins and holding a long stick, points toward a small figure in blue walking down the distant hillside. Robed men and boys in orange, green and blue stand and kneel around him, some half undressed at the water's edge. A tree rises at left, and blue mountains close the horizon under a clear sky.

Once your order is in, a workshop painter works the canvas in oil, and the copy, made to order, is ready after 2 to 4 weeks. A Fine Art Print of the same image is also sold. The wide format offers ten sizes between 43 x 30 cm and 215 x 150 cm. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery, with a full refund.

Second, Lucas gave us pictures of both paintings while they were being painted and at the end.
