أسدٌ يزأر ينهض أمام مجموعة من الغلادياتور داخل ساحة رومانية مكتظة، لَبَدَتُه تلتقط الضوء الذهبي بينما تلتقي الرماح والسيوف بالعضلات والفراء في حرارة القتال. نمرٌ مرقط يجثم قريبًا، وصفوف المتفرجين المتدرجة فوق تملأ الساحة الحجرية، مُصوَّرة كضبابية ناعمة متحركة تدفع كل التركيز نحو الصراع العنيف بالأسفل. لوحة الألوان دافئة ورميلة، فراء ذهبي وبشرة مدبوغة مقابل حجر شاحب، مع غبار وحركة تُضبب حواف المعركة. إنه مشهد مبني على الخطر الجسدي الخام، ذلك النوع من المشاهد البدائية التي بُنيت لأجلها الساحة الرومانية. مرسومة يدويًا بالزيت على قماش ومصنوعة حسب الطلب بالحجم الذي تختاره، تُحدث هذه القطعة بيانًا جريئًا ودراميًا في مكتب أو قاعة أو غرفة ذات طابع تاريخي.
