كاتانا ملطخة بالدم ترتاح تحت أزهار الساكورا الرقيقة في هذه اللوحة، لتقرن ثقل التاريخ بجمال الأزهار الهشّ العابر. عُولج الزيت بضربات دقيقة وحذرة على النصل، ولمسات أنعم ومتناثرة على الأزهار، فيقف المعدن الصلب والبتلات الرقيقة في توتر هادئ. في مكتب أو غرفة قراءة، يمنح مزاجاً من القوة الممزوجة بالحزن، مشهد مهيأ للتأمل البطيء لا للفت الانتباه السريع. سكونه يستحق نظرة ثانية أطول.
