イエスは宮の庭の中央に立ち、手に縄を持ち、ひっくり返された台や散らばる硬貨が、商人や両替人たちが彼の前から逃げ去る瞬間を刻んでいます。鳩は檻から飛び立ち、その淡い翼が構図全体に散らばる一方、ローブを着た人々は石柱の周りで驚きと混乱に後ずさりしています。パレットは、イエスのローブの温かみのある黄土色と赤が、神殿建築の冷たい石色と混ざり合い、正義の怒りの中心人物に視線を引きつけます。群衆の中の一つ一つの身振り—上げられた腕、背を向ける姿、落ちる籠—が、突然の騒乱の感覚を高めています。福音書の中でも最も物理的に緊迫した瞬間の一つを、実際の動きと緊張感をもって描いています。手描きの油絵で、お好みのサイズでオーダーメイド。書斎やリビングで、聖書の力強い劇的な場面が強い主張をする作品に適しています。
