Ein gewundener Fluss fließt ruhig durch ein Bergtal, während der Himmel in den Sonnenuntergang übergeht und die Wasseroberfläche das letzte warme Licht des Tages einfängt. Das Öl auf Leinwand ist in weichen, ineinander übergehenden Schichten aufgebaut, mit sanfter Pinselführung, die die Gipfel formt, und einem gleichmäßigen Farbverlauf über Himmel und Wasser. Mit ruhigem, unverkrampftem Strich gemalt, trägt die Szene eine friedliche Stille in den Raum.
