Ein stiller Kanal windet sich durch die historische Stadt Suzhou, sein Wasser spiegelt die Gebäude, die das Ufer säumen, während die Dämmerung über die Szene hereinbricht. Das Öl ist mit weichen, ineinander übergehenden Strichen aufgetragen, wodurch Licht und Reflexion auf der Leinwand ineinander verschwimmen.
