سفينة حربية ملكية رمادية، بهيكل يحمل الرقم J232، تشق طريقها عبر بحر هائج وهي تقترب من غواصة صدئة تطفو على السطح قريبًا. يتطاير الرذاذ الأبيض على طول خط الماء في كلا المركبين، وراية بريطانية ترفرف بصلابة في الرياح فوق سطح السفينة. تتدحرج غيوم كثيفة عبر سماء شاحبة، ينعكس رمادها في البحر المضطرب تحتها، بينما بقع من الزبد تحدد سطح الماء. المزاج متوتر وهادف، لحظة لقاء بحري برسم بثقل وتفاصيل سجل بحري حقيقي وليس مشهدًا مسرحيًا. تدرجات رمادية وزرقاء وصدئة تحمل التكوين، مكسورة بلون العلم الأكثر إشراقًا. مرسومة يدويًا بالزيت على قماش وتُصنع حسب الطلب بالحجم الذي تختاره، تناسب هذه القطعة دراسة أو مكتبًا أو ركنًا بموضوع عسكري أو تاريخ بحري، وتعمل بشكل جيد بجانب نماذج السفن أو التذكارات البحرية.
