سفينتان طويلتان تلتقيان تحت سماء تتوهج بغيوم برتقالية وبنفسجية، وأشرعتهما تلتقط آخر ضوء غروب بينما يتصاعد الدخان من نيران المدافع بينهما. تبرز الصور الظلية الداكنة للصواري والحبال بشكل حاد ضد الأفق المتوهج، بينما يحمل البحر أدناه خطوطًا من الذهب والأزرق الداكن، مجسدًا دراما معركة عند نهاية اليوم. إنه مشهد مبني على التباين والجو، جمال السماء الهادئ يتعارض مع العنف الذي يحدث على الماء. التكوين له عمق وحركة حقيقيان، مثالي لغرفة معيشة أو مكتب أو دراسة حيث يمكن لمشهد بحري مذهل أن يثبت المكان. مرسومة يدويًا بالزيت على القماش وحسب الطلب بالحجم الذي تختاره، تقدم رومانسية وخطر عصر الشراع كقطعة جدارية جريئة وجوّية.
