Beschrijving van het kunstwerk

Een stille straat omzoomd met gloeiende lampions ontvouwt zich terwijl de schemering over de scène neerdaalt. De olieverf is opgebouwd in zachte lagen, waarbij elke lampion is weergegeven door kleine, doelbewuste lichttoetsen die zich zachtjes aftekenen tegen de verdiepende omgeving. De penseelstreken blijven los en atmosferisch, waardoor de straat zachtjes in de schemering wegtrekt in plaats van scherp gedefinieerd. In een huis voegt het een warme, beschouwende noot toe, en roept het een onthaaste wandeling door het schemerlicht op.
